Fishing has picked up along the Graham Island shoreline, but the most productive areas this week continue to be around the north and east sides of Langara.

Boulder Point heated up this trip and has produced the largest salmon so far -- a 43-pound Chinook. Out west, Lepas Bay has had a couple of flurries the last 2 days and looks promising, but this area is more sensitive to weather, so a strong westerly could make it unfriendly.

Around Langara, Cohoe Point and McPherson Point are both holding salmon, but a little more offshore and a little deeper than normal. Langara Rocks, offshore a bit in 200-300 feet of water, has been producing salmon from the constant bait balls moving with the current. This spot has also been on the deeper side, with most bites coming between 30-70 pulls.

Andrews Point has been a little more sporadic. There seems to be a larger Pink salmon population than other spots at the moment, but boats are still finding some Chinook and Coho here. Some guests are finding springs on or near the bottom when bait balls show up deep on the sounder.

Dropping your bait to be near the bait schools has provided some decent action for Chinook anywhere from Langara Rocks out to offshore of the Jalun River. There is so much bait here now that this method can be rewarding wherever you find schools on your sounder. Salmon will feed on bait at any depth, so whether it's at 20 feet or 200 feet means very little to them.

The west side is littered with Humpback whales right now, with spouts common all along the horizon. It's especially easy to spot them late in the day with the setting sun catching them.

A large pod of 30+ Resident Killer whales, including a number of juveniles, were also spotted around the island this weekend. The fishing is great, but the photo ops have been even better lately!

"What a great trip"

This was a fantastic trip. The fishing was absolutely incredible, we went home with our limit of salmon, halibut, and rockfish. After a hard day of fishing the staff were very welcoming and the food was what you would see in a high end restaurant. I will defiantly be back sometime in the near future!

"Fisherman's Dream Come True "Langara Fishing Lodge""

Being used to roughing it on fishing trips, Langara was the total luxury 1st class experience for me. Everything from the accommodation, food (the pig roast was brilliant), boats and gear were all top notch. All the staff were excellent particularly our guide Matt who got us into some fantastic world class fishing fun. This is the place memories are made from and I'm glad I didn't pass up this opportunity with my buddy and his sons.

"Amazing is a New Normal re the Langara Fishing Lodge Experience"
Review Created On: Jun 13, 2016

I just returned from my seventh experience with the Egan/Husky fishing adventure. High seas and another amazing and unique experience is what I have learned to expect as a normal for this adventure. Anchored by wonderful customer service, Bill and Suze run a fine operation in this remote and wild environment unique in Canada. The scenery makes this vacation experience truly remarkable. It changes every trip and I am looking forward to my next opportunity to return to the Langara Fishing Lodge
